This depends on the camera type. Image and video uploads require almost no bandwidth, while a continuous live stream ideally requires around 10 Mbit/s. The exact setup is best determined together in a non-binding consultation.
What's the power consumption of the camera?
This depends heavily on the camera type and installation location - based on our experience, annual power consumption ranges between 250 kWh (180° camera) and 1,400 kWh (360° camera at elevations above 2,000 meters).
Can the system work with a SIM card?
Yes. Images, videos, and live streams can also be transmitted via a SIM card.
We have Wi-Fi on site. Can the camera connect to Wi-Fi?
The camera cannot receive Wi-Fi directly. However, we can install directional radio antennas. The best approach is to arrange a non-binding consultation with us.
What temperatures or wind speeds can the camera withstand?
Our cameras operate in temperatures from -40°C to +50°C. Over the past 15 years, they have withstood wind speeds exceeding 60 km/h - provided the mounting mast is designed accordingly.
What's the weight of the camera?
Depending on the model, the camera weighs 3.3–7.8 kg.
Can the camera be mounted on an existing weather-station pole?
In principle, yes. BUT this depends on the camera type and pole diameter. Feel free to explore our different panoramic webcam models.
How far can the camera see?
As far as the horizon and weather conditions allow. Look forward to high-resolution panoramic images.
Do I need permission from neighbors to install the camera?
No. The Panomax application is GDPR-compliant. People and vehicle license plates are automatically blurred. Sensitive areas such as neighboring houses or parking spaces can also be masked.
How long is the content stored?
With Panomax, images are stored forever, creating a vast archive that captures not only the best moments but also documents the long-term development of your location.
What happens if the camera is switched off in summer or winter?
Then you won't pay any software costs for this period either. When you need live panoramic images again, simply switch the camera back on.
Can I lease the camera?
Yes. We offer flexible purchase, rental, and leasing options.
How is the camera promoted on webcam portals?
Panomax provides automatic API integrations with major tourism platforms (e.g., bergfex, wetter.com, schneehöhen.de, skiresort.de), where panoramic images and videos are published 24/7.
Will my videos automatically appear on TV?
No. This depends on the camera model and whether regional or national TV stations broadcast webcam content. In Austria, for example, ServusTV is our partner. See more details about content distribution here.
How often does the camera require maintenance?
Never. The cameras do not require maintenance intervals.
How long is the guarantee?
This depends on the camera model, but at least two years.

I have my own website server. Can it store the images?
Images are stored on Panomax servers. Since the images undergo complex processing (blurring, automated timelapse generation, etc.), this is the simplest, safest, and most cost-efficient solution - ensuring you always receive the best live panoramic images without any effort.
How is camera functionality monitored, and what happens in case of failure?
Our internal monitoring system detects outages immediately. If any issue occurs, we contact you without delay.
How do I determine the best installation location?
We are happy to make a free and non-binding on-site visit to evaluate potential mounting locations together. During this visit, we assess the ideal viewing angle and installation height.
How much does an installation by Panomax cost?

What is the lifespan of a Panomax camera?
Panomax cameras are extremely durable. Our oldest camera has been operating for over 15 years, delivering daily live panoramic images from Austria’s highest mountain.
When will a new camera model be released?
We continuously develop our cameras and always provide the latest available model.
Who provides the custom mounting bracket? Can the customer supply one?
Yes. You may provide your own mounting bracket, or we can manufacture one for you - whichever you prefer.
How is it determined whether the mast can support the camera’s weight?
If required, we commission an independent structural assessment from a certified institution.
What happens if a camera needs replacement? Are there costs within the guarantee?
In case of failure, we send you a replacement camera free of charge for self-installation.
If you prefer us to install it, only working time and travel costs are charged. The defective camera is inspected and repaired, of course, free of charge within guarantee.
Does the camera require a transformer, and where is it installed?
The 360° and 100° panoramic cameras require a transformer supplied by us. It must be mounted in a weather-protected location, such as a control cabinet or inside a building.
What voltage does the camera need?
The 360° and 100° cameras require 24V DC (transformer included). The 180° camera operates via PoE midspan.
Who manages the interactive panoramic content?
You can manage it yourself. We provide detailed training, after which you can add interactive elements via the Panomax admin system.
How can the camera be (re)financed?
Panomax allows you to create multiple customized instances of the same panoramic image.
